Job summary:

To provide leadership and manage staff to ensure employees receive timely, accurate pay per Caterpillar pay practices. Ensure high levels of service to employee inquiries related to their paycheck and the supporting documents. Ensure withholding tax returns are files on time and necessary support provided to Ernst & Young for ISE related taxation and Payroll Accounting.

Job Duties:

  • Provides leadership to the daily payroll operations to ensure timely, accurate pay for all employees served. Establishes processes and procedures to support the execution of Caterpillar pay practices. Ensures the execution of the processes and procedures by subordinates.

  • Manages the payroll customer service for internal customers that includes employees, and local HR (recruiting, labor relations…). . Resolves escalated customer service issues. Provides in-depth analysis and consult on the most complex pay and tax issues.

  • Provides guidance and assists in the development of new pay practices and requests from business units in accordance to government policies, taxation rules, labor contracts, and business unit locality concerns. Assesses new business conditions, to determine feasibility and impact of implementation on payroll and interfacing systems.

  • Is responsible for implementing and maintaining payroll system.

  • Is the local coordinator for Work Day and Ramco payroll systems for interfacing, Manages interfaces between payroll and financial systems. Provides in-depth analysis for labor cost monitoring.

  • Ensures that Payroll operations and data processing are Sarbanes Oxley compliant.

  • The position supervises or manages a work unit of salaried employees where planning, scheduling, and monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required after completion. The position is responsible for all personnel issues, performance evaluation, and career counseling of subordinates.

  • Ensure withholding Tax Quarterly returns are filed on time & issuance of withholding tax certificate (Form 16) as per the due date.

  • Providing ISE related inputs to Ernst & Young for accurate calculation of withholding/Hypothetical tax.

  • Ensure Out bound ISE employee entries are posted in the host entity books on time.

  • Payroll accounting, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, payroll accounting, managing Statutory Audit and Tax Audit ( from Payroll perspective) preparation of Actuarial valuation inputs etc.


  • Degree ( in Accounting) / Post Graduate / Chartered Accountant with intermediate and well experienced in the area of Payroll process and validation

  • sound knowledge in payroll Taxes with 8 to 10 Years of experience . Must demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. "Ability to analyze complex taxing and pay requirements.

  • Business Unit pay practices, and governmental policies. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions. Knowledge on ISE taxation is required.

  • Proficient in MS Office, Advance Excel, SAP knowledge, Workday / Ramco payroll systems is and added advantage.
